Direct Measurement of Through-Bond Effects in Molecular Multivalent Interactions

    Diffrential binding forces (ΔF) measured by force-induced remnant magnetization spectroscopy enable through-bond effects in multivalent interactions to be identified in thrombin-aptamer complexes. The contribution of through-bond effects to monovalent and bivalent binding was directly examined. This method might be suitable for practical applications in the design of high-performance ligands. We directly identify the contribution of through-bond effects to monovalent and bivalent binding of thrombin with its aptamers.
